Lavender Waves Scarf
Who needs another reason to buy Scheepjes Whirls? Yes? You’re welcome then. Here is a one Whirl pattern to create a light, airy and eye catching scarf. Perfect to take the chill off those autumn (fall) days.
Another free pattern? What? Who am I?
Don’t be fooled. These are patterns I made up a while ago, as evidenced by my pregnant belly (Lewis is now 2 and walking!). I have actually since sold this scarf, but I figured it was a lovely pattern to make so why not put the pattern up on the blog as well as it being on my Ravelry shop for free.
Please do not publish or share this pattern as your own.
You may make and sell items with this pattern but please do give credit to www.katemadeit.au

This pattern does benefit from blocking when completed to help the piece lay flat and the spaces to open-up. It helps to give the piece a professional finish.
Lavender Waves Scarf Pattern
Begin with a chain of 104. (My Scarf is approx. 35cm wide.)
To adjust the width of this Scarf, adjust the beginning chain by multiples of 10, plus 4 as the turning chains.
Foundation row – DC in 6th ch, *ch 1, sk 1, DC in next st. Repeat from * across the beginning chain. Turn work.
Row 1 (WS) – Ch4 (counts as 1DC, ch1), sk 1st DC & ch1 sp, *DC in next DC, ch 1, sk ch-sp, repeat from * across, ending with a DC in the third ch of the turning ch. Turn work.
Row 2 (RS) – Ch 1, SC in first DC, *ch 5, [sk next sp & skip the next 2 x DC], working in front of the next ch-sp, sl st in the next ch-sp from 2 row before, ch 5, [sk next 2 x DC & ch-sp], SC in the next DC in the current row, repeat from * across, ending with a SC in the 3rd ch of the turning ch4.
Row 3 (WS) – (This row you are working in both the SC from row 2 and the DC from row 1.) Ch 1, SC in 1st SC, *(ch 1, sk the next ch-sp 2 rows below, DC in the next DC from row 1) 4 times, ch 1, SC in the next SC in current row; repeat from the * across, turn work.
Row 4 – Ch 1, SC in the first SC, *ch 5, [sk next sp & skip the next 2 x DC], working in front of the next ch-1 sp, sl st in the next ch-1 sp 2 rows below, ch 5, [sk next 2 x DC & ch-sp], SC in the next SC in current row; repeat from the * across, turn work.
Row 5 – (This row you are working in both the SC from row 2 and the DC from row 1.) Ch 1, SC in 1st SC, *(ch 1, sk the next ch-1 sp 2 rows below, DC in the next DC from row 1) 4 times, ch 1, SC in the next SC in current row; repeat from the * across, turn work.
Row 6 – Ch 4, skip the first SC and ch-1 sp, *DC in the next st, ch 1, skip the next ch-1 sp; repeat from the * across, ending with DC in the last SC, turn.
Repeat pattern rows 1-6.
I repeated the ‘wave’ pattern rows to create a 2 wave, 3 wave, 2 wave pattern. This involves repeating rows 2 & 3 one extra time to create the third wave.
Continue this pattern until you reach your desired length, or the end of the whirl.
I hope you enjoyed making your very own Lavender Waves Scarf and I would love to see your creations!
