Cabernet Doily Crochet Pattern

One of my favourite yarns to crochet with is a fingering weight or lace weight single ply. I mean just look at that stitch definition below. It’s stunning!

When I bought this yarn from the amazing Ashley at Montana Crochet, I just loved the colour, purple is my thing. And this one has such delightful little specks of orange and gold, it is just amazing.

While creating this design, I was very aware of not making this pattern look too similar to my most recent make before it, The Ripple Effect Mandala. The inspiration for this mandala or doily pattern was to create a pretty flower, and I think I completed the brief, what do you think?

This Doily pattern has a delicate flowery feel without being overly lacey. I would love to see this pattern turned into a throw cushion cover with a co-ordinating coloured fabric behind this piece.

A few hints to help you get the best out of this pattern, blocking is a must, to really help those spaces open up and shine. And if you are planning on mounting your doily onto a metal hoop to hang in your home, I recommend making your mandala and blocking it, then measuring the hoop size you need. I’ve been caught out before having a hoop that is too small once the mandala is finished.

My incredible tech editor, Kelly Lonergan from Hazenna Inspired has just completed her very own Cabernet doily to decorate her office with. It is gorgeous. She shared the pics on her Instagram here recently and isn’t it just beautiful in this Bendigo Woollen Mills yarn?

You can also grab this pattern on my Etsy and Ravelry shops so you can get it wherever you prefer to shop!

Happy crocheting friends!
